Wine Tours Hunter Valley

Start Tour:

Your Vintage Connections Eco Tour begins from the moment we pick you up from your accommodation in our world class environmentally efficient, ANCAP 5 star safety rated, climate controlled Mercedes Benz.

Our first wine tasting is generally booked in at 10-10:30am.

1st Winery:

When we arrive to be warmly welcomed at the first winery you will engage in a personal wine discovery experience. All Vintage Connection tours are about knowledge and the joy of good wine. In the case of our Eco Tour, we will focus on winery operators who are chemically and environmentally sensitive.

In the words of a Hunter Valley bio-dynamic, certified organic winery operator, “Good wine is not made in a winery, so much as it is made in the field.”

To get to our selected cellar door we will travel through the beautiful Hunter Valley, taking in the sights and sounds of this amazing wine region via the most picturesque roads possible.

During the drive we will talk about the winery that we are heading to and touch on some history and specific information that sets the Hunter Valley wine region apart from any other wine region in Australia.

2nd Winery:

You have probably had a significant conversation with a wine maker who is passionate about the environment and their vision of wine making in the Hunter Valley and how it fits their organic business model. You have sampled some chemically sensitive wines.

At the second winery we continue your personal wine discovery experience. This winery may have been personally selected by you, or booked by Vintage Connections while you were enjoying the first winery.

You have now sampled up to ten wines, starting from the ‘lightest’ to ‘heaviest’ of whites and then the ‘lightest’ to ‘heaviest’ of reds, perhaps rounding the tasting session off with an amazing fortified white port or a Muscat.

Have a drink of water, take a breath and indulge again, noticing the distinctive stamp the 2nd winery has put on their wines.

It’s Lunch Time:

Vintage Connections will take you to Nanna Kerr’s Kitchen for a wine-matched meal. Nanna’s is famous in the region for their delicious meals made with local produce (organic when possible). Vegans and vegetarians are catered for.

3rd Winery

Again, our 3rd winery may have been selected by you or booked by Vintage Connections while you were at the 2nd winery. We have explored contrasting and complementary wines and various wine styles as your personal wine discovery experience has continued to surprise and impress you.

4th Winery

The story continues to unfold as we discover wines and attitudes that line up with your personal philosophy.

5th Winery

Your wine tasting experience has been varied, generous and diverse.

The diversity of your experience has potentially left you feeling quite inspired.

We will also exercise sensitivity to palate saturation and ensure that your final destination is as valuable as the first.

Transfers:

You are now feeling fantastic and are brimming with lasting memories and fabulous flavours. You may have purchased some wine and craft industry produce or world class cheese to store in the our cold storage compartment in the vehicle that needs to be returned to your accommodation.

There are plenty of beautiful restaurants and some wonderful craft breweries in the area. We will be happy to return you to your accommodation or we can deliver your purchases, should you choose to be dropped off at a place where your experience with Vintage Connections can continue seamlessly into the rest of your day.

End Tour:

Most of the cellar doors in the Hunter close at 5pm.  We will be finishing off your last wine tasting at around 5-5.30pm.

Once you and your purchases are safely delivered to your accommodation, your tour with Vintage Connections may come to an end as your luxury transport drives away to the backdrop of a breathtaking Hunter Valley sunset.

FAQS - Have You Got Some Questions?

All of our tours are available as private tours if minimum passenger requirements are met.

Our tour prices reflect all transfers to and from your accommodation in the Pokolbin, Lovedale and Cessnock area. If outside these areas, extra fees may incur, unless otherwise stated.

If you have selected this tour as private, your child/ren will be welcome. The presence of children may have an effect on venue choice. The enjoyment of your whole group is our priority.

A child safety and/or booster seat can be provided with advance notice.

Pets are not allowed on the tour as many cellar doors don’t allow pets and it is illegal to keep a pet in a secured vehicle with no one in attendance. Exceptions apply for Registered Companion Animals.

Many venues have designated smoking areas and provision will be made for your needs. As you would expect smoking is not allowed in the vehicle.

A number of environmentally and chemically sensitive vineyards are in the Hunter Valley. We would like to help you discover these important cellar doors. Alternatively you may prefer to choose your own itinerary.

For your lunch experience, the Eco Tour takes you to Nanna Kerr’s Kitchen where you may purchase lunch at this mostly organic restaurant. Delicious Vegetarian and Vegan options are always available.
